Day 1

Arrive and Get to Know Anchorage

Take in the sights of Alaska’s largest city after landing in Anchorage. Your private driver/guide will recommend points of interest during your transfer to your hotel.

Day 2

Travel from Anchorage to Talkeetna

Today, start off with a customized sightseeing tour of the city with your private driver/guide. Next, travel north from Anchorage to Talkeetna along the Parks Highway. The drive features expansive views of alpine peaks and valleys, rivers and streams, and vast spruce and birch forests. After arriving in Talkeetna, enjoy a scenic flightseeing adventure straight into the heart of Denali National Park. From the air, you will fly over the untouched wilderness featuring glaciers, mountain peaks, and come face to face with the highest peak in North America, Denali. Weather permitting land on one of the many glaciers within the national park. Enjoy a short stroll and some time for pictures before boarding the plane and heading back to Talkeetna.

Day 3

Talkeetna River Fishing

The Alaskan Native Dena’ina people named this area Talkeetna, which loosely translated means “river of plenty.” Located at the confluence of three rivers, Talkeetna is the perfect starting point for one of Alaska’s most popular activities. Embark on a fishing trip for an unforgettable adventure. Depending on the time of season, you may fish for Rainbow Trout, Chinook Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Coho Salmon, and Dolly Varden. Your guide will discuss the seasonal options and then take you to the best fishing grounds based on your preference. Be sure to keep an eye out for bears, bald eagles, moose, and other wildlife as you make your way along the river.

Day 4

Travel from Talkeetna to Girdwood

Travel south to Girdwood from Talkeetna along the Parks Highway. Pass through Anchorage and down the scenic Turnagain arm before arriving in this small mountain town. After arriving in Girdwood an exciting helicopter dog sledding adventure awaits! Climb aboard a helicopter for a stunning 15-minute flight over the nearby Chugach Mountains to the Punch Bowl Glacier. Here you will learn how the dogs are bred, see how they are trained, and hear stories about Alaska’s official sport. The enjoy a dog sled ride on the glacier while taking in the stunning glacial landscape. After returning to solid ground travel to your hotel for the evening.

Day 5

Fishing on the Kenai Peninsula

Embark on a full-day guided fishing excursion from the world-famous Kenai Peninsula. Meet your fishing guides and get geared up before heading out to the river for a day of fishing. Whether you are a novice or a well-seasoned angler, you will find fishing opportunities to match your skill level. All guides are excellent teachers and are well prepared to help beginners learn the basics and catch their first fish on a fly rod if that is what you desire. If you’re an expert, you still may pick up a few things too. Depending on the weather and species, your guide may recommend a certain type of fishing technique over another, it is still up to you but your guide will make these recommendations based on the most up to date information about your fishing day. After this full-day return to your Girdwood hotel for the evening.

Day 6

Travel from Girdwood to Homer

Your day begins with a short drive back to Anchorage and a morning charter flight by floatplane. Fly over snow-capped mountains, waterfalls, and rocky shorelines while keeping an eye out for wildlife such as black bears and bears. Your destination will be a quiet cove in Kachemak Bay where your captain and crew will be waiting for you aboard the luxury Wilderness Explorer fishing boat. This exclusive, state-of-the-art vessel was designed for speed, comfort, and safety and is equipped with the latest technology and gear to ensure a successful day of fishing for Homer’s famous trophy fish. A hearty meal is included onboard between reeling in your catch. After a full day on the water travel back to the shores of Homer where you will check into your hotel for the evening.

Day 7

Ultimate Fishing Adventure in Kachemak Bay

Enjoy another full day of fishing in Alaska’s Kachemak Bay! Take off on your private floatplane and meet your awaiting crew at the hottest fishing spot in Kachemak Bay. Drop a line and as you wait for a fish to bite enjoy a hot beverage and learn fishing tips from your crew. After reeling in the big one you may choose for the captain to cook up your catch on the boat and enjoy a gourmet dinner on your return to Homer, or ship your fish home to be enjoyed at a later time. Look for whales and sea otters as you sail back to Homer.

 

Day 8

Travel from Homer to Seward

After breakfast depart Homer for another beautiful seaside town on the Kenai Peninsula. Situated at the head of Resurrection Bay on the Kenai Peninsula, Seward is one of Alaska’s oldest and most scenic communities. And is known as the ‘Gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park.’ Along the way take a short detour to the Exit Glacier located just outside the Seward city limits. Exit Glacier is one of the most accessible glaciers in all of Alaska, and is the only part of Kenai Fjords National Park accessible by road. Walk the trail on your own with the help of interpretive information signs, or choose to take a hike guided by a park ranger. See for yourself how glaciers like this have reshaped the landscape of Alaska and how plant life reclaims the barren land exposed by a glacier’s retreat. After your visit travel to your hotel for the evening.

Day 9

Kenai Fjords National Park Fishing and Wildlife Cruise

Today venture deep into Kenai Fjords National Park in search of whales, sea otters, puffins, and more during this all-day tour on a 44-foot boat with a heated cabin. Then cast a line and enjoy fishing for halibut and salmon! This area has many rich feeding grounds and sights including the Harding Icefield, calving glaciers, wildlife, and jumping salmon, it’s a perfect day tour to experience the national park up close and personal.

Day 10

Travel from Seward to Anchorage on the Alaska Railraod

Enjoy a leisurely morning and afternoon to enjoy Seward. Walk the town and grab a bite to eat, take advantage of an optional tour, or just relax. This evening travel aboard luxury dome rail cars – the only of its kind in the world – from Seward to Anchorage. Large, panoramic windows allow for mostly unrestricted views of the scenery around you and an excellent vantage point for photos. Leave the shores of Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park behind as you enter the backcountry wilderness before continuing along Turnagain Arm, where the steep mountains of the Chugach Range border the Seward Highway, one of the most beautiful stretches of highway in America. Your private driver/guide will meet you at the Anchorage depot for a transfer to your hotel.

Depart Anchorage

Grab your catch and meet your driver/guide at your hotel. A private transfer will bring you to the Anchorage International Airport to meet your departing flight.
